Funding
Funding for the William Jeanes Memorial Library comes primarily from local real estate taxes levied by Whitemarsh Township and state aid from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. These annual amounts do not cover all the expenses of providing the services of a modern public library. The Jeanes Library has had a long history of support from individuals beginning in 1926 with Mary Jeanes Miller's bequest of $75,000 in memory of her first husband, William Jeanes. Community fund drives provided a significant percentage of the costs of the new building in 1970 and of a new roof in the 1990s.
