The current Joshua Road building was constructed in 1971, and after decades of service, it soon will undergo a major renovation. But the big news is that the building also will be growing!
Timing
To make way for this major project, the Library will be moving to a temporary home at 2391 Harts Lane.
The doors to the Joshua Road building closed Sunday, January 10th, and
we opened at 2391 Harts Lane on Monday, January 25th.
Temporary Location
Whitemarsh Township has generously offered to host the Library at the “White Building” at Koontz Park, on Harts Lane just west of Ridge Pike.
Directions to 2391 Harts Lane

The Library’s phone number will remain the same—610-828-0441.
The Building Project
Building improvements will include new heating and cooling systems, new and expanded electrical systems, new and upgraded shelving, new lighting and plumbing fixtures, new furniture, and a completely reconfigured interior layout. We also are adding parking.
The user-friendly furniture and shelving configuration is made possible by the construction of a two-story addition, which will add square footage at the rear of the building. Each floor of the addition will consist of 3,500 square feet, bringing the Library’s total space to 18,000 square feet. For a schematic of the interior layout, click here. (Please note that these plans could change as the project proceeds.)
Access to the Collection
All recently released books moved with us to Harts Lane, as did the entire DVD collection. All newspaper subscriptions and most of the magazine offerings are also still available.
We brought a substantial portion of the Children’s collection, and continue to offer the popular storytimes.
With the inter-library loan program available through MCLINC, Jeanes Library patrons will continue to have access to the full catalog of items, and typically, within a few days of requesting a title, it will be available for pick up. Patrons can request titles by calling the Library, or by using the online search and request system. Click here to search the catalog. To request titles, you must have a PIN (personal identification number) along with a library card. You can obtain a PIN by contacting the Library’s Circulation Desk staff. Staff also can help you navigate through the catalog and online request system.
